New Year’s Eve Events

Send off the year in style with Nightlife’s range of features for New Year’s Eve events. Keep reading to learn how to use them to create the ultimate end-of-year atmosphere in a venue.

How To Queue The New Year’s Eve Countdown

This 10-minute mix uses a combination of audio and visual content to count down to the New Year with some of the top dance tracks and videos from the year that was. It should be scheduled to play from 11:50PM on December 31st via the Manage My Nightlife app.

  1. Open Manage My Nightlife on a phone, Nightlife Tablet or PC
  2. In the Menu, select the Search Songs page
  3. In the search bar, type “[Year]” or “NYE Countdown
  4. Open the Song Details. If using a phone or Nightlife Tablet: Tap the blue down arrow to the right of the track title. If using a PC: Click on the track title to open a pop up window
  5. In the song details, click or tap the clock icon to open the scheduling window
  6. In the scheduling window, set the track to play at the desired time
  7. Select the option to interrupt the playing song at the time and date specified. This will fade out the current song and ensure the mix starts on time
  8. Click or tap Schedule

New Zealand Nightlife Users: A 10-second version of the New Year’s Eve Countdown is also available. This should be set to play at 11:59:45PM on December 31st.

To check or delete a scheduled track: Look for a clock icon on the Current Playlist page. Tapping on the clock will show all scheduled tracks and relevant details. To delete, tap the circle to the right of the track to select it and then tap the trash icon.

How To Queue The DJ NYE Set

Full of this year’s biggest and best party tunes, start playing the four-hour DJ NYE set at 9PM for the ultimate party mix to welcome in the new year.

If a mix or song has been scheduled to play before midnight, like the New Year’s Eve Countdown Mash-up, the DJ NYE set can still be queued to play from 9PM – it will be temporarily interrupted to play any scheduled content and then resume one the content has finished.

  1. Open Manage My Nightlife on a phone, Nightlife Tablet or PC
  2. In the Menu, select the Queue Lists page
  3. Select the All Lists tab
  4. Expand the Nightlife Lists heading
  5. In the DJ Sets category, click or tap the circle next to a DJ Set to select it for queuing
  6. Click or tap the green Queue Lists button
  7. Click or tap Custom Order
  8. Use the slider to nominate the length of time the DJ Set should play for, before returning to the Scheduler’s current playlist
  9. Hit the green Queue button NOTE:The DJ Set will start in custom order from track 1. A new starting track can be selected from the list before queuing, if required

How To Display An NYE Countdown Slide

Complete with a large animation on an ambient screen, this timer counts down the days, minutes, and hours until New Year’s Eve.

  1. Open Manage My Nightlife app on a PC
  2. In the Menu, select the Advertising page
  3. Ensure the User Advertising tab is selected
  4. Select Library from the options at the top of the page
  5. Find and click the New Years Countdown.zip from the options available
  6. Click Next
  7. Use the options to customise when and for how long the slide will be displayed:
    • Set the Duration for how long the image will be displayed each time it appears on screen (10s is a common choice).
    • To limit how regularly the slide appears, tick the Delay box and nominate how many minutes must pass before the slide appears in rotation again.
    • Click the Between Dates option and set end dates to be the 31st of December
  8. Click Create. The image will now appear in rotation, alongside other advertising.

I can’t find the New Year’s Eve Countdown Mash-up track in Nightlife

Try selecting the Genre tab in the Search Songs bar. Then, scroll down to the Occasions genre. Expand this section and to find the tracks for special occasions, including the New Year’s Eve Countdown Mash-up.

I don’t normally show Nightlife video clips on my TVs, can I still use the New Year’s Eve Countdown Mash-up?

If Nightlife is not connected to a visual setup, the audio of the New Year’s Eve Countdown to Mash-up can still be heard, however, there will be no associated video visible.

How do I review my scheduled songs?

Look for a clock icon in the Current Playlist tab. Tapping on this icon will display the scheduled songs and their relevant details.

How do I delete a scheduled song?

Look for a clock icon in the Current Playlist tab. Tapping on this icon will display the scheduled songs, tap the circle to the right of the song to be removed from the schedule and then tap the trash icon.

What if I want to use the New Year’s Eve Countdown Mash-up before midnight?

The New Year’s Eve Countdown Mash-up can be used at any time of day on December 31st! For venues hosting family-friendly events, the mix can be scheduled to play at a time that suits customers.

How do I control crowdDJ requests interfering with my DJ Set?

If a venue has crowdDJ set up, avoid any unusual song choices or repeat requests interfering with music and visual content by turning the Manual Cue crowdDJ Requests feature ON in the playlist settings.

How do I cancel a queued DJ set?

To cancel a queued DJ set, or any queued music list, go to the timer on the Current Playlist page and press the END button.
