crowdDJ Guest-Hosted Karaoke

Whether you have dedicated karaoke rooms or a private function, crowdDJ Guest-Hosted Karaoke streamlines the experience. Guests can easily run their own karaoke parties using a kiosk or their personal devices with crowdDJ.

How you run your Guest-Hosted Karaoke party depends on your setup…

If you have a dedicated karaoke room that has a kiosk with permanent host controls, then there is no set-up required. Proceed to the Guest Instructions.

For occasional Guest-Hosted Karaoke events, staff will be required to hand host control to a kiosk or personal device with crowdDJ.

Handing Host Control

A guest will need to first download the crowdDJ app and check into your location. Alternatively, your crowdDJ Kiosk can be handed the host controls.

  1. Open the Manage My Nightlife App and navigate to the Controls screen.
  2. Expand crowdDJ settings.
  3. Click the crowdDJ Host Devices button.
    • If you are handing control to a guest’s device, ensure that the crowdDJ app is open and checked into the correct venue.
  4. Select the device that you are handing host controls to and then proceed to the next screen.
  5. Select how long you’d like that device to have host controls for.
    • Once the session time is finished, the host device will return to regular crowdDJ functionality.
  6. Press Save and check that the guest’s device updates with Host Controls.
    • If you ever need to revoke control early, navigate back to the crowdDJ Host Devices section in the Manage My Nightlife App, and click Clear Host Devices.

Guest Instructions

Once you’ve set up the crowdDJ kiosk to run karaoke, take your guests through how it works with these steps:

  1. Tap the Karaoke button at the top of the kiosk to display karaoke songs.
  2. When you want to pick a song to sing, tap the green plus button next to it to add it to the queue.
Note: Songs that have already been added will have a headphone icon instead of a plus.
  3. Use the Search Bar to find specific songs.
  4. Browse lists to find songs grouped into a variety of categories.
  5. Play, pause and skip songs with the controls visible under the now playing song.
