Queuing Music Lists to update the Current Playlist

Lists

In the Manage My Nightlife menu, there are two pages: Queue Lists and Current Playlist. It’s important to understand that one of these feeds into the other.

From the Queue Lists page, Manage My Nightlife users queue the music lists they want to play.

When new music lists are queued, an algorithm mixes the tracks from the lists to create the Current Playlist.

From the Current Playlist page, users can see the new tracks that have been added into the mix.

To ensure the Current Playlist is never repetitive or jarring for listeners, the algorithm acts as a digital DJ. Shuffling tracks from the music lists queued while following a beat wave method that seamlessly blends songs together.

DJ Sets

DJ Sets are a collection of tracks, designed for different crowds and atmospheres. They’re carefully curated by the music team at Nightlife, and set to play in their custom order. This means the tracks will temporarily change the Current Playlist to the DJ Set’s list for the time it has been queued to play.

Options for queuing

Using Manage My Nightlife, there are three different way to queue a list.

Queue Method	Description
Custom Order	Play a DJ Set in its custom order for a set time
Timed Shuffle	Play music lists for a set time, then return to the Scheduler
Shuffle	Play music lists until overridden by the Scheduler

How to queue Lists

Queue one or more lists to temporarily override the Scheduler, creating a fresh playlist for listeners.

Using iOS or Android:

1. Open Manage My Nightlife
2. In the Menu, select the Queue Lists page
3. Select the All Lists tab
4. Expand the Nightlife Lists heading
5. Tap the square next to one or more lists to select them for queuing
   NOTE: Selecting more than one list will play a mix of songs from each
6. Tap the green Queue Lists button
7. Tap the appropriate queue method (i.e. Shuffle or Timed Shuffle)
   If selecting Timed Shuffle: Nominate the start time and length of time you wish to override the Scheduler for, then click or tap the green Queue List button.

After the lists are queued, the app will navigate to the Current Playlist page and display the updated playlist.

Using the Web App in your Browser:

1. Open Manage My Nightlife in your browser
2. From the Menu bar, select the Queue/Schedule Lists page
3. Select the All Lists tab
4. Expand the Nightlife Lists heading
5. Click the circle next to one or more lists to select them for queuing
   NOTE: Selecting more than one list will play a mix of songs from each
6. Click the green Queue/Schedule Lists button
7. Nominate the length of time you wish to override the Scheduler for and when you’d like it to play, then click the Queue/Schedule Lists button.
   NOTE: To queue without nominating a time, untick Session Duration. The lists will play until the next scheduled entry.

After the lists are queued, the app will navigate to the Current Playlist page and display the updated playlist.

How to queue Spotify Playlists via Manage My Nightlife

Follow the steps below if you’re using Manage My Nightlife on iOS or Android.

1. Open Manage My Nightlife
2. In the Menu, select the Queue Lists page
3. Select the All Lists tab
4. Expand the Downloaded Spotify Lists heading
   NOTE: If this heading does not appear, then please connect a Spotify Account. To do this, open the Menu and tap Connect to Spotify
5. Tap the square next to a Spotify Playlist to select it for queuing
6. Tap the green Queue Lists button
7. Tap the appropriate queue method (i.e. Custom Order, Timed Shuffle or Shuffle)
   If selecting Custom Order or Timed Shuffle: Nominate the start time and length of time you wish to override the Scheduler for, then click or tap the green Queue List button.
8. Tap the green Queue button
   

After the lists are queued, the app will navigate to the Current Playlist page and display the updated playlist.

Follow the steps below if you’re using the Manage My Nightlife Web App in your Browser.

1. Open Manage My Nightlife in your browser
2. In the Menu, select the Queue/Schedule Lists page
3. Select the All Lists tab
